Doctor Who fans need work, The Wombats, DVD's

A week off of work usually entails a few layins, general relaxing and doing nothing in general. Bizarrely my routine Monday started off at 6am, I forgot just how dark winter is in the mornings. It was a pretty horrible feeling, I was over loaded from junk food from the previous night and couldn't have any breakfast. Normally, I'd be pretty pissed off in the predicament, but there was silver lining, my mate Rhys told me there was a Doctor Who signing up London with stars David Tennant and Freema Agyeman.

So, leaving the station at 8am, we began are journey on the Central Line. What was to be expected, pretty much happened. I'm still pretty sore from being cramped in the doorway, but as the train emptied, we got to Oxford Street.

Now, we anticipated that some fans would be there, sadly for us, we didn't anticipate the correct amount. By the time we got there, we already missed out on the chance to que up later (if that makes any sense), Rhys fount out the hard way by asking a guy for a wristband, only to be told there was none. He stormed out, not bothering to pay the extra fiver for the DVD itself. By 9am, we had already failed.

The rest of the day was pretty decent, I'm sure I've got cancer from the bacon from McDonald's (apparently the bacon can give you cancer now, scaremongering ftw), I got the entire Jackass collection for £25 and the Spider-Man trilogy for £28, pretty good for in store prices.

The day drew to a close, I listened to the new Wombats album. It isn't too bad, but when comparing to other acts like Arctic Monkeys, The View and Hard-Fi, its a bit lost, expect the following song to be played at your local pubs/clubs for the next year, it's pretty good so at least you can learn its simple lyrics and not resort to mindless miming.

Enjoy the track and thanks for reading

First Post, have an album

First of all, I'm a complete n00b at this, so if you see any mess ups, well, lets just leave them as mess ups. Well first of all, welcome, god knows why your here, I'm guessing a link from hypemachine or Muselive, whatever, all's good.

I guess I should give some backround on this, the reason I ended up doing this thing was I like the whole social network thing and expressing opinions. Unfortunitly, the internet is a dangerous place. Whether your being stalked on Facebook, flooded with spyware on the Myspaz or attacked by a 35 year fat man on an internet forum. your pretty screwed unless your the same as everyone else.

But anyway, I always appreciated people who used to put music on here and gave me something to read, so it's time for some payback.

I wanted to add something really good to the first post, so I guess this was best choice. Bloc Party have really been on a roll this year. They got past the difficult second album with the fantastic A Weekend in the City and have toured non stop (this year, I've seen them twice with a last date in December making it three for 2007).

One thing that did strike me was how many b-sides AWITC had, not including Flux (which isn't in this d/l, you've been warned), there was 12 songs! I remember talking to a friend saying they could have done the commercial thing and released a third album straight off the bat, but they didn't, instead, many of these songs either simply became b-sides for the singles, bonus tracks in the states or simply unreleased.

So, doing what I thought was best (along several other hundred people round the world, it's not that innovative), I decided to compile these songs into a decent order, do a quick 10sec job on Photoshop for a cover, end up adding Cavaliers and Roundheads a few months after and what do we get...

Getaway

Short, simple and in correlation with AWITC.

So, here you are, twelve tracks on one fan made album. Songs to look out for include England, Vision of Heaven, The Once and Future King and Rhododendron, there all pretty fantastic.
